Amazing stuff. This could be easily applied to other devices with accelerometers and create a totally new art genre.

Well done!

Good comment! I originally wanted to make it as unintrusive as possible, so the musician would just be able to do his moves and nothing else. My girlfriend had made me some straps to mount the wiimotes to my limbs without having to hold them, but eventually, I still had to press a button in the gesture recognition process, so I had to hold the wiimotes anyway.

But I hear from the guy that made the Java gesture-recognition library, Benjamin Poppinga, that he's working on continuous gesture recognition, regocnizing multiple gestures in a larger, continuous stream of data. Which would allow me to use the straps again.

Currently I have a lot of plans for the gesture recognition prototype, extra functions and limbs and stuff. But making it wearable would be very cool, maybe I can check out indeed how much of the parts of the wiimote I can strip to integrate it into some clothing. I honestly didn't think about stripping the wiimote to its bare parts.

I'm also picturing accelerometers and some use of the lilypad arduino. I'll keep it in mind!

Wow, strikingly good presentation.. and also very interesting topic :) Is the idea to incorporate the parts of the wiimote into something wearable?

Yes, it's possible by choosing the acceleration parameter as a trigger instead of the B button. It's much harder to detect gestures this way though, because it needs to be a continuous stream of motion per gesture, and this is not always possible.

Also it will continuously try to detect gestures when it doesn't need to (whenever you move). WiiGee needs borders, and it tries to border the gestures when you're standing still.

So I decided to choose the B button.

Cool. Can you make WiiGee recognize a gesture without having to hold down a button while making the gresture?

Hi,

If you need filter, generator, etc .. in pure data try
DIY2 abstractions.
http://puredata.hurleur.com/sujet-1982-diy2-effects-sample-players-synths-sound-synthesis

or just post a topic on http://puredata.hurleur.com a very good forum about pure data..

Yeah, I thought so too, but it gives the same strange sounds with every included demo sketch I try too, no matter which buffersize. I've read some stuff about people with macbook pro's having strange problems, maybe it's that?

I'd be interested to see the sketches that are causing your glitches. It might just be that you are trying to use buffers that are too small.
