About… wout

I’m Wout Standaert, a student in Genk city, the most un-student-friendly city in the world. I wanted to start this blog to keep track of thoughts, dreams and brain activity.

I’m currently 21 years old and in my master year of Communication & Multimedia Design here in Genk at the Media & Design Academy. Doing a thesis project about a performative music instrument… read all about it!

So what do I do? All kinds of stuff basically… I make music, in real life as well on my computer. I’m in a band called “de halve perziken op zware siroop” (stoner-math-metal-dutch-mix), a solo project called “woodd” (ambient music) and recently I started a band with my girlfriend, Goele Swenters (a film student in the same school), that is still to be decided where it’s heading…

For the rest of the time, I’m behind my computer doing stuff… the last couple of months I’ve gotten more into physical computing, working with Arduino, Processing, Pure Data and Max/MSP/Jitter. Other things that have passed through my hands are graphical design, motion design, photography, filmmaking, programming (mostly web languages, xhtml, css, php, javascript, actionscript,…),…
